Because LumiLor™ is a brand new product , we have yet to explore all the possible solutions that it can provide.
We believe there to be practical uses for LumiLor™ in automotive, aerospace, boating, military, industrial safety, art, and creative lighting applications to name just a few.
This page will explore the application of LumiLor™ in the custom aftermarket and will look at what materials / substrates LumiLor has been applied to as well as top coat solutions that are compatible.
Aftermarket Applications:
LumiLor™ has been applied to motorcycles and helmets already, cars will be next. Whether used to create a film prop to achieve a particular effect or a high end shower or hand rail for an amazing architectural experience, LumiLor™ has the transformatitive ability to make almost any surface come alive with light.
Motorcycle Applications:
This is where LumiLor™ started and where it will most likely shine the brightest. We have just begun to scratch the surface with what is possible in motorcycle illumination.
Helmet Applications:
LumiLor™ lit helmets are an example of how any number of plastic pieces that are formed to fit the human body can be turned into a lamp.
Substrate Application:
These are the materials or substrates that LumiLor™ has been successfully applied to.
Metal Applications:
Metals (primed first to insulate them electrically) make a great surface to turn into an EL lamp.
Plastic Applications:
LumiLor™ can be applied to plastics in an unlimited variety of shapes and sizes.
Vinyl Application:
LumiLor™ can be applied to vinyl and can flex up to 180º.
Wood Applications:
LumiLor can be applied to wood as see in this image of a guitar body. Imagine a white hand rail down your stairs illuminating at night as you approach, lighting your way in the dark.
Glass Application:
Glass is now a practical substrate with plenty of potential.
Top Coat Application Examples…
After the LumiLor™ Electroluminescent Coating system is in place, it is sealed off and insulated by an encapsulating clear coat. There are many top coating options, the choice of topcoat is up to the user, and such factors as sheen, elasticity, weather protection, and impact resistance will determine which topcoat should be used and the ultimate thickness of the coating system.
LumiLor™ can shine through a number of commercial coatings, including black, dip-coats, Cosmichrome and hydro- graphics meaning that your painted product can look completely normal when not energized, and still illuminate brightly under charge.
